Nawanshahr, April 17- The police department under the leadership of District Police Chief Dr. Mehtab Singh is making every effort to stop drug smuggling, yet drug smugglers are continuously running the business of drug smuggling through secret routes. Smuggling is still skyrocketing in the interior areas (garhs). High police officer Harjeet Singh has been successful in continuously cracking down on smugglers from the villages of Banga subdivision.
Station head of Sadar Nawanshahr police station Ashok Kumar, with the help of the general public, has succeeded in catching the large-scale drug smuggling operation going on in village Langaria of his constituency, while smugglers from village Jambuwal of his constituency have now started transporting drugs from their village to other villages, but Sadar police is still chasing them strictly.
Giving information about today's action, SP Investigation Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Sarabjit Singh Bahia said that ASI Amarjit Kaur, in-charge of Police Post Jadla, which comes under Police Station Sadar Nawanshahr, while patrolling from village Kishanpur towards Langriya, along with the police party, arrested Kalwinder Kaur alias Sannu (wife of Makhan Ram, resident of village Jambuwal) and Kanwaljit alias Kamal Kumar (son of Pyara Ram, resident of village Jambuwal, Police Station Sadar Nawanshahr) near the canal bridge with 30 tablets used for intoxication and registered case number 49 against them in Police Station Sadar Nawanshahr and arrested them.
According to the report, Kalwinder Kaur already has 5 cases registered against her for drug trafficking, while Kanwaljit has 4 cases registered against him in different police stations and he is on bail. Similarly, the police of Police Station Mukandpur arrested Gurvinder alias Pindu (s/o Ram Ratan, village Jhingar) with 45 tablets used for intoxication and registered case number 25 against him in Police Station Mukandpur.
Similarly, ASI Dani Chand of Bahram Police Station arrested Ravi Kumar (s/o Chaman Lal, resident of village Mehli) with 40 tablets used for intoxication and registered case number 32 against the accused in Bahram Police Station. He informed that the police will continue its campaign against drug smuggling and the above arrested accused are being produced in various honorable courts of Nawanshahr.
