District Export Promotion Committee meeting held in Una, discussion on increasing export capacity.

Una, May 2 - As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal, the first meeting of the District Export Promotion Committee was organized by the District Administration on Friday at NIC Hall, Una. Director General of Foreign Trade Brijesh and Joint Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department A.K. Gautam participated in the meeting through online medium. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen the export potential of the district by assessing it, identifying the needs of exporters, and reviewing the export promotion policies and schemes of the Central and State Government.

Continuous increase in export figures-
During the meeting, the Joint Director of Industries Department Una informed that continuous growth is being recorded in the field of export in the district. In the year 2021-22, a total export of Rs 226.64 crore was done from District Una, which increased to Rs 365.08 crore in the year 2022-23 and reached Rs 403.07 crore in the year 2023-24. During the same period, a total of Rs 19,184 crore has been exported from the whole of Himachal Pradesh in the year 2023-24. Una district is making a significant contribution to the exports of the state.

Schemes and facilities for exporters-
The Joint Director said that an action plan is being prepared to further promote exports in the district, under which facilities like training, quality certification, branding, modern packaging technology and access to national and international markets (market linkage) will be provided to local exporters. Apart from this, export-oriented workshops will also be organized in the district in the coming time.

Emphasis on better connectivity-
In the meeting, emphasis was laid on connecting Una district with better rail, road and air connectivity to make the export process faster and effective. This will facilitate transportation of products from industrial areas and facilitate access to national and international markets.
On this occasion, representatives of various industrial units including Rakesh Kaushal, President of Tahliwal Industry Association were also present in the meeting. He shared his suggestions on the challenges and possibilities related to export at the local level.
