Nawanshahr- Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police deployed special check posts and patrol teams across the district to check suspicious persons and vehicles on the intervening night of 11th and 12th April to nab miscreants and ensure safety of citizens. During this checking campaign conducted under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Mehtab Singh, the district police checked vehicles throughout the night and questioned suspicious persons.
During this, police officials also conducted checking at inter-district check posts, high tank check posts, bus stand, railway station and other important and sensitive places in the district. During this, Senior Superintendent of Police and other police officers visited various check posts and encouraged the police personnel deployed on duty at night. SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that under the commitment of Punjab Government to provide a peaceful environment to the people, this operation conducted as per the guidelines of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav aims to further strengthen the sense of security among the citizens, as well as to crack down on anti-social elements.
He said that one SP, 7 DSPs and about 200 police personnel took part in this operation which went on from 10 pm to 4 am. He said that police is working with full determination to crack down on bad elements in a professional manner. He said that the 'war against drugs' campaign launched to eradicate drug abuse from the state will be taken to its logical conclusion and this evil will be completely eradicated.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the police in cracking down on anti-social and mischievous elements and their identity will be kept secret.
