Chandigarh, August 21 - Under the leadership of Haryana Health and AYUSH Minister Aarti Singh Rao, Baba Khetanath Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital located in Patikra village of Mahendragarh district has achieved a significant achievement in the field of Ayurvedic education.
This year, the number of seats for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery has increased from 30 last year to 63. This remarkable progress has taken place after the National Indian Medical Commission approved this in this regard.
Expressing happiness over this achievement, Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that our goal is to establish Ayurveda as a strong medical system at the national and global level. The increase in the number of seats in Baba Khetanath Ayurvedic College is an important step in this direction.
He said that the future of Ayurveda lies in high quality education and credible research. We want our institutions to produce globally recognized practitioners, researchers and educators who can take Ayurveda to new heights.
In March 2025, when this issue was brought to the notice of the Health Minister, he immediately took decisive steps. Just four days before the visit of the NCISM inspection team, 41 new Associate Professors and Assistant Professors were appointed. This quick and strategic decision enabled the college to meet the stringent requirements of NCISM, which resulted in the number of seats more than doubling to 63.
This decision has not only strengthened the position of the college but also created new opportunities for the youth in Ayurvedic education. The government is now committed to increasing the BAMS seats in this college to 100. For this, NCISM has been assured of fulfilling all the standards of a government Ayurvedic college and is continuously making efforts in this direction.
Along with this, the government has also accelerated the teacher recruitment process. In November 2024, the Haryana Public Service Commission has issued advertisements for 14 posts of Associate Professor, whose appointments are expected to be completed soon. Apart from this, advertisements will also be issued soon for the posts of Lecturer and Professor. These steps will not only increase the academic level of the college, but will also strengthen scientific research and education in Ayurveda.
The widening interest in BAMS seats is expected to open up new career opportunities for students, strengthen Haryana's position as a hub of traditional medicine, and contribute to India's broader vision of making Ayurveda a globally respected healthcare system.
