?33 Lakhs Contribution to PEC for New Lab Equipment, PEC and CUGL Join Hands for Advanced Mechanical Engineering Research

Chandigarh: 08th April, 2025: The Mechanical Engineering Department of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central U.P. Gas Limited (CUGL), Uttar Pradesh, represented by Mr. Rajwinder Singh Panesar, in the presence of Mr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta (Labour Commissioner, Punjab), both Mechanical Engineering graduates from the Batch of 1996, along with Mr. Navin Kumar Singh. The MoU formalizes the establishment of a collaborative framework between CYGL and PEC, supported by a generous contribution of ?33 Lakhs for the purchase of two equipment : Twin Screw Extruder and Pin on Disc Wear Tester.

The signing ceremony took place on 04th April, 2025 in the presence of Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia (Director, PEC), Prof. Rajesh Kanda (Head, Alumni, Corporate and International Relations), Prof. Sanjeev Kumar (Head, Mechanical Engg. Deptt.), Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Nitin Dixit, and Dr. Viveksheel Rajput.
This financial contribution by CUGL will provide support for the development of various pallet blends using natural fibers or agricultural waste at PEC. CUGL will ensure the procurement of both the equipment, meeting the highest quality standards. This MoU is effective from the date of signing and shall be in effect till the procurement of the equipment. 
Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sh.  Rajwinder Singh Panesar for this thoughtful initiative, emphasizing the importance of alumni contributions in strengthening PEC’s academic and technical ecosystem, while fostering excellence.

This MoU signifies the enduring bond between PEC and its alumni, demonstrating how collective efforts can open new doors for aspiring engineers and sustain PEC’s legacy of nurturing talent and innovation.
