Program organized on World Tuberculosis Day, Panchayats performing well in Nishchay Shivir 100 Days Campaign honored

Una, March 24- On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, a district level program was organized at the District Council Hall Una on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, while presiding over the program, honored 105 Panchayats doing excellent work in Nishchay Shivir 100 Days Campaign by giving them certificates and mementos.

He also rewarded the district officials and health department employees who played an important role in making the campaign successful and congratulated the entire team for this achievement of the health department and appreciated their efforts.

Collective efforts necessary for TB eradication
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that TB eradication is an important national and global health challenge, which has affected millions of people socially and economically. He said that through the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program and various awareness campaigns, there has been a significant reduction in TB cases in the last decade. He appealed to all stakeholders, panchayat representatives, health workers and citizens for active participation in this campaign and said that India can be made TB free only through collective efforts. He said that the main objective of organizing the Nikshay Shivir 100 Days Campaign was to accelerate the pace of early identification, timely treatment and elimination of TB.
He said that the theme of World Tuberculosis Day 2025 is - Yes we can eliminate TB. Commit, invest, deliver results. This theme emphasizes that organized and dedicated global efforts are necessary for TB elimination.
The Deputy Commissioner said that various schemes and campaigns are being run for TB elimination. Under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, financial assistance is being provided to TB patients for nutritious food. Also, disease identification and treatment is being made more effective by promoting community-based participation.

TB elimination will be possible only with public cooperation
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that do not ignore the symptoms associated with TB and get timely investigation and treatment done. He said that if we move forward with organized efforts, the goal of TB elimination can be achieved soon.

Special camps organized for TB awareness and screening
Under this campaign, special Nikshay camps were organized at various health centers, community hospitals and primary health centers across the district. In these camps, people were provided TB screening facilities, such as X-ray, sputum test and necessary consultation.

84,285 persons were examined, 70 found TB infected
Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjeev Verma said that a total of 84,285 persons were examined under the Nikshay Camp 100 Days Campaign. He said that TB screening of 13,970 persons was done in Block Amb, 27,895 in Block Basdehra, 8,122 in Block Gagret, 20,492 in Block Haroli and 6,692 persons in Block Thanakalan. During this period, possible symptoms of TB were found in 7,741 persons, after completing the entire investigation process of which TB infection was confirmed in 70 persons.
On this occasion, Zila Parishad Chairperson Neelam Kumari, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verma, District Panchayat Officer Shravan Kumar, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Vishal Thakur, District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Kiran Sharma, Medical Superintendent Sanjay Mankotia, BDO Una KL Verma, BDO Amb Ompal Dogra, BDO Haroli Rajeshwar Bhatia, BDO Gagret Surendra Kumar, BDO Bangana Sushil Kumar, all BMO, President of Indian Medical Association Dr. Rakesh Agnihotri, Head of Chemist Association Manish Chadda and representatives of various Panchayats were present.
