
War against drug abuse - Deputy Commissioner appeals to social, religious, sports organizations to come forward against drug abuse
March 4 Hoshiarpur - With an aim to effectively curb the evil of drug abuse in the district, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain on Monday called upon social, religious, educational, sports organizations and non-governmental organizations to cooperate with the administration under the Punjab Government's campaign 'War against Drug Abuse'.

During a meeting with the officials of the Civil, Police and Health Departments at the District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain directed to intensify efforts to deal with drug abuse.
She said that the administration will provide full support and assistance to the people who have fallen prey to drug abuse for their rehabilitation. She said that all the necessary arrangements and facilities are available in de-addiction centers, rehabilitation centers and outpatient clinics.
Ashika Jain said that with the help of expert doctors, counselors and continuous medication, drug addicts can give up addiction and lead a healthy life and the rehabilitation center has many creative activities for self-employment of the people trapped in the trap of drug abuse.
Emphasizing on mutual coordination between the concerned departments, the Deputy Commissioner said that the aim of 'War on Drugs' is to get rid of this social evil, in which education and awareness activities can play an important role.
He said that the teams of the concerned departments should work together with all the stakeholders, especially organize awareness activities to motivate the youth towards sports so that their immense energy can be used positively.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik directed the police officers to ensure strict action under the 'War on Drugs' campaign in collaboration with the concerned departments. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar, senior officers of police and health department were also present in the meeting.
