Along with this, now with the efforts of the state government, the possibilities in the field of adventure sports and tourism are also expanding rapidly here. Along with giving a new dimension to water sports activities at Govind Sagar in Bilaspur, now in the same sequence, with the targeted efforts of the government, Andaroli area of ????Una district is emerging as a new center of adventure sports and tourism activities.
An investment of Rs 10 crore is proposed with the help of Asian Development Bank to promote water sports in this area adjacent to Govind Sagar Lake, due to which this area will develop as a major tourist destination. At the same time, the construction of Mandli-Lathiani bridge and road at Govind Sagar in this area at an estimated cost of about Rs 871 crore will also help in giving a new dimension to tourism development here. Decisive steps have been taken in this direction and a project report of about Rs 400 crore has been prepared for the first phase.
A confluence of natural beauty and adventure
The beauty of the Govind Sagar lake surrounded by mountains on all sides and the confluence of thrilling activities add to the attraction of Andaroli. With the aim of making this area an adventure tourism hub, exciting activities like boating, kayaking, jet ski and house boat are being started here. The district administration has awarded the tender to Mayfield Adventures for conducting these activities, which will give a thrilling experience to the tourists coming here.
The increasing popularity of water sports will not only give a new dimension to tourism but will also create employment and business opportunities for the local people. The Adventure Sports Meet organized by the Police Department in January last year gave this area a special identity at the national level. In this event, players and tourists from all over the country participated in activities like para motoring, para sailing, hot air balloon, ATV ride, zip line, commando net, zorbing, Mickey Mouse, gun shooting and motor boat.
Tourism development will promote self-employment
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, extensive work is being done to make Andaroli a major center of adventure tourism and water sports. Along with expanding the facilities for tourists, efforts will be made to regularly organize entertainment and sports activities here, so that this area can emerge more strongly on the tourism map.
It is noteworthy that during his visit to Kutlahar area last year, Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had examined the possibilities of water sports and adventure tourism in Govind Sagar Lake in Andaroli. He also enjoyed boating there and directed to take necessary steps to promote it on a large scale.
At the same time, Kutlahar MLA Vivek Sharma said that the priority of Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is to promote adventure sports and create self-employment opportunities for the youth. The development of water sports in Andaroli is an important step in this direction. This will open new doors of employment for the youth. This will not only promote adventure sports and tourism but will also give new energy to the economy of the state.
