Nawanshahr- Street vendors unions will participate in the district level International Labor Day conference being celebrated by IFTU on May 1 at Vishwakarma Mandir, Rahon Road, Nawanshahr. On that day, street vendors will be on complete strike. This decision was taken in a big meeting of street vendors in Nawanshahr.
More than 125 workers of fruit vendors, vegetable vendors, juice vendors, kulcha vendors and other types of vendors participated in this meeting. Addressing this meeting, Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) Punjab State President Kulwinder Singh Waraich, State Press Secretary Jasbir Deep, District Secretary Parveen Kumar Nirala said that International Labor Day is a very important historical day for the workers.
In the year 1886, workers in America had fought a bloody struggle for 8-hour working day and other demands. In the US city of Chicago, the police fired bullets and used other violence on the workers who were on strike and protesting. The white flag was stained with the blood of the workers shed on the streets.
In front of this struggle of the workers, the pro-capitalist government of America had to kneel down and accept the demands of the workers. After which workers all over the world started celebrating May 1 as 'International Labor Day'. The leaders said that today the working class is facing big challenges at the national and international level. The Modi government first repealed the pro-labor labor law and brought four anti-labor and pro-capitalist labor codes, which is a big attack of the Modi government on the working class.
Insecurity of workplaces in the country is a daily threat for workers. People are losing their lives due to this. Instead of taking any action against the employers, the Modi government at the center and the state is patting the back of the employers. These governments are launching fascist attacks on the peaceful rallies, dharnas and demonstrations of workers, farmers and employees. The governments are serving the capitalists by inciting religious sentiments among the people and diverting their attention from the real issues.
The common people are suffering due to inflation, unemployment and corruption. The governments of the ruling class parties are trampling the democratic and constitutional values ??under their feet. An anti-labour environment is being created by spreading false propaganda against migrant labourers, in which government agencies are playing very dirty tricks. He called upon the working class to remain alert and organize their strength and engage in fierce struggles.
In the meeting, the street vendors called for a labour conference on May 1. There was full participation on this occasion and other proposals were approved by raising hands. Kishore Kumar, Gopal, Ram, Raju, Sita Ram, Tahir, Kapil, Hari Ram and other leaders were also present on this occasion.
