On this occasion, the speakers demanded that Rajinder Taggar should be released immediately and a fair investigation should be conducted by forming a committee under the supervision of a senior high official in another district outside Mohali. On this occasion, President of Punjab Against Corruption Satnam Singh Daun, Leader of Lawyers Association Jaspal Singh Dapar, Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, Leader of Kisan Union Parmdeep Singh Baidwan, Kirpal Singh Siau, Balwant Singh Nandyali, Senior Journalist Gurpreet Singh Niamian, Kuldeep Singh, Darshan Singh Sodhi, Sukhdev Singh Patwari, Gurmeet Singh Sahi, Patron of Press Club Banur Karamjit Singh Chilla and General Secretary Avtar Singh and others condemned the arrest of Rajinder Taggar terming it as a direct attack on fair journalism and press freedom. He said that soon a joint delegation of the unions will meet the Chief Minister and the DGP and demand that they personally intervene and conduct an impartial investigation into the entire matter and release the journalist.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chandigarh Union of Journalists President Balbir Singh Jandu and Press Council member Balwinder Singh Jammu also reached Mohali and strongly condemned the arrest of the journalist.
On this occasion, the protestors also gave a demand letter to DIG Ropar Range, in which it is said that SSP Mohali has implicated journalist Rajinder Singh in false cases in exchange for exposing the cases of personal corruption and corruption being done by the administration. and attempts are being made to destroy the freedom of the press. It has been said in the letter that members of the journalist community and social workers who helped Rajinder Taggar are also at risk of being implicated in a false case. Rajinder Taggar's cameraman has also been tortured by the police and the keys of Taggar's house, his mobile phone and other belongings have also been seized by the police. The letter has demanded that the inquiry be conducted by the SSP of another district or a higher official.
On this occasion, the protestors said that if the journalist Rajinder Taggar is not released immediately and the investigation of the matter is not handed over to another officer, then this struggle will be intensified.
