
Lecture and Kavi Sammelan organized in Hindi Department
Chandigarh, 28 February 2025- Chandigarh | Today, on 28 February, 2025, external examiner Prof. Jayachandran R., who came from School of Indian Languages, Kerala University for viva voce in Hindi Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh, delivered a lecture on the topic 'Status of Hindi in Kerala'. He first gave a geographical introduction of Kerala.
Chandigarh, 28 February 2025- Chandigarh | Today, on 28 February, 2025, external examiner Prof. Jayachandran R., who came from School of Indian Languages, Kerala University for viva voce in Hindi Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh, delivered a lecture on the topic 'Status of Hindi in Kerala'. He first gave a geographical introduction of Kerala.
Then he told that out of the fourteen universities located in Kerala, most of the universities have Hindi departments where research work is being done. Hindi language is being taught at undergraduate, postgraduate level in more than two hundred colleges. Along with this, magazines like 'Shodh Darpan', 'Anushilan', 'Shodh Prayan' and 'Sahitya Mandal', 'Shodh Sarovar' are also being continuously published from Kerala for research in Hindi language.
He told that Hindi is being taught as a compulsory subject in schools. He said that Hindi is providing employment opportunities there too. Learning Hindi language has expanded the vocabulary of their mother tongue. Thus every language contributes to realizing the possibilities of coexistence.
After that a kavi sammelan was organized by Hindi Sahitya Parishad. The purpose of this event was to promote Hindi poetry and encourage new talents. Research scholars and students from various departments of Punjab University participated in it. In the program, former research scholar of Hindi department Dr. Anupama and research scholar Rahul played the role of president and co-president.
In this program, Arvind Kaushik (Department of Statistics), Nancy Sharma 'Pawan' (Department of Political Science), Aman Kamboj (Post Graduate, PGGCG), Rupesh Kumar (UILS Department), Ojaswini Sachdeva (Department of English), Sulekha Devi (Research Scholar, Hindi Department), Narayan Singh Bhadauriya 'Naval' (Student, Hindi Department) and Dr. Anupama enthralled the audience with their self-composed poems.
After the recitation of poems, while making the presidential remarks, researcher Rahul said that poetry becomes special due to its rhythm, rhyme, emotions and symbols. To write a good poem, it is necessary to first read and understand the poem well. Dr. Anupama congratulated all the participants for their excellent poetry recitation.
In the end, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar thanked the participants and the audience and encouraged all the participants by giving them certificates. He said that such programs are an effort by the Hindi department to provide a platform to young talents, which will continue in the future as well. MA second year student Pawan Sharma played the role of the program's stage host.
