United Nations/Geneva, February 27- India has sharply criticised Pakistan for raising the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at the UN Human Rights Council. “A ‘failed’ country that lives on the backs of ‘international aid’ spreads the lies told by its military-terrorist masters with ‘full responsibility’,” India said.
India on Wednesday took Pakistan to task by exercising its right of reply during the 58th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Forced by habit, Pakistan has once again raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir from this platform.
“India is exercising its right to respond to baseless and disputed references made by Pakistan. It is regrettable, but not surprising, that Pakistan’s so-called leaders and delegates are spreading the lies created by their military-terrorist network with full vigor.’’ Tyagi said it was unfortunate that the council’s time was being wasted by ‘a failed state, which is unstable and lives on international aid. Its rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy; its actions are inhumane and its governance is an example of incompetence.’’ Tyagi said that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are and will remain an integral and inseparable part of India. He said that the unprecedented political, social and economic progress achieved in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few years speaks for itself. "This success is a testament to the people's faith in the government's commitment to normalising the situation in the terror-hit region," Tyagi said.
He stressed that Pakistan, where human rights violations, oppression of minorities and systematic erosion of democratic values ??are part of state policies and which shamelessly harbours UN-designated terrorists, is in no position to lecture any other country.
He said Pakistan should abandon its hostile attitude towards India and focus on providing real governance and justice to its people.
