
Home Guard volunteer arrested for demanding bribe of Rs 80,000 from police personnel
Patiala, February 27- Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Punjab Home Guard (PHG) volunteer Malkit Singh posted at Police Station City-1, Sangrur on charges of demanding bribe of Rs 80,000 from police personnel.

Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused has been arrested after investigation of a complaint lodged on the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line. According to the complainant, the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the police personnel of the station in lieu of not registering a drug-related case against the complainant's husband, but the deal was settled for Rs 80,000.
The spokesperson further said that after investigation, the allegations leveled against Home Guard volunteer Malkit Singh in the complaint were found to be true. He said that in this regard, a case has been registered against the accused at the Police Station Patiala Range of the Vigilance Bureau. He said that the accused will be produced in the court tomorrow and further investigation into the case is underway.
