Nawanshahr- CASO operation conducted by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police in the drug-affected area of ??the district. During this operation, special checking of suspicious persons and persons already involved in the drug smuggling business was done by the district police and 06 drug smugglers were arrested with 18 grams of heroin, 95 intoxicating pills.
Giving information to the press, Senior Superintendent of Police of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, IPS Dr. Mehtab Singh said that the district police is fully committed to the elimination of drug abuse and strict action is being taken against drug smugglers.
Giving further information, he said that under this campaign against drugs, today on 03.02.2025, as per the guidelines of Hon'ble Director General of Police, Punjab and Hon'ble Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range, Ludhiana, the District Police has arrested Dr. Mukesh Kumar, PPS, Captain of Police (Investigation), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and conducted Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) under the supervision of 110 police personnel including 01 SP, 08 DSPs in the drug affected areas of the district.
In this search operation, a police party of 01 SP, 08 DSPs and 110 police personnel was formed to search the drug hotspot villages/wards of the district and check the persons involved in drug trafficking in particular.
The main objective of this operation is to control drug traffickers, maintain pressure on drug traffickers, monitor their current activities, break the drug supply chain, identify and rehabilitate drug users and create confidence in the general public towards the police.
He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in this campaign against drugs. During this search operation, 223 suspicious persons were checked, during which 06 drug smugglers were arrested and 18 grams of heroin and 95 intoxicant pills were recovered from them. In this regard, 05 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act.
