
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has created a new record in labor cess collection - Karamjit Kaur.
Hoshiarpur - District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that the Punjab government has collected a record labor cess of Rs 310 crore in the financial year 2024-25, which is the highest in the last four years. She said that this historic achievement is the result of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visionary leadership, transparent policies and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the workers.

The Chairperson said that labor cess of Rs 203.94 crore was collected in the year 2021-22, Rs 208.92 crore in 2022-23 and Rs 180 crore in 2023-24. The figure of Rs 310 crore this year proves that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken concrete steps for the development of the working class and protection of their rights.
The Chairperson of the District Planning Committee said that the labour cess is mainly collected from construction activities and projects in the state. This amount is used for the safety, health, education and welfare schemes of the workers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has implemented many such schemes which are directly benefiting the families of the workers.
Karamjit Kaur said that the aim of the Mann government is not only to collect revenue but also to improve the living standards of the workers and their families. New steps are being continuously taken for the education of children, health insurance, housing assistance and social security. She expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab will become an example for the country in the field of labour welfare in the coming years.
