Nawanshahr- The staff of KC Public School, located locally on Kariyam Road, celebrated Lohri under the supervision of KC Group Chairman Prem Pal Gandhi. The program was inaugurated by school principal Dr. Asha Sharma by lighting Lohri with the entire school staff. In which peanuts, Revdi and flowers were offered.
Principal Dr. Asha Sharma said that Lohri is an integral part of our culture. We should pledge to reduce the discrimination going on between boys and girls in the society and celebrate Lohri of girls and everyone should celebrate Lohri together. Along with this, teachers Rajveer Kaur and Monica Sharma told that the festival of Lohri has been celebrated in Punjab and Haryana for centuries, on this day people sit together and light a fire to avoid the cold.
This festival of Lohri is a festival to eradicate caste discrimination and sit together and give the message of love. During this time, everyone sang songs like Aai Lohri Bana Lo Jodi…, Sundar Mundriye Ho Tera…, Dum Dum Mast Kalandar, Main Manne Tere Varga, Jabdo Aunty Di Lohri… etc. and danced around the Dhuni. On this occasion, the entire school staff including Rajveer Kaur, Monika Sharma, Rajni, Kiran Sobti, Surinder Pal, Monika Rani, Neeraj, Kamaljit, Harvinder, Samridhi, Neelam, Ranjana, Meenu Kanda, Sahil, Satish Kumar and Rajiv Ghai and Vipan Kumar were present.
