Nawanshahr- An important meeting of the district level committee was held under the Narco Coordination Center (NARC) mechanism under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (JD) Rajiv Verma in the District Administrative Complex today to review the campaign being run against drug abuse in the district and to discuss the future action plan. Officers from various departments including police, health, school education were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that not only the administration but all sections of the society need to play an active role in the fight against drug abuse. He said that we have to take such steps together, which not only prevent drug abuse but also create public awareness against it. He instructed the officers present to constantly review the progress of the campaign being run against drug abuse in their respective departments and take more concrete steps in this direction.
He instructed all the departments to work in mutual coordination. During the meeting, the officers of the police department appreciated the work done by the police department so far against drug abuse. He said that the district police has made continuous efforts to crack down on drug smugglers. He said that the police department is making every possible effort to break the drug network and the cooperation of the public is also very important in this.
He said that all the police stations of the district have been instructed to run a public awareness campaign against drug abuse and involve every section of the society in it. Apart from this, the Health Department gave information about the status of de-addiction centers and their activities. Similarly, officials of various departments gave information about the steps taken by them against drug abuse. On this occasion, SDM Balachaur Preetinder Singh Bains, DSP Lakhveer Singh and officials of various departments were also present.
