Approval given to 34 new cases under sponsorship scheme

Patiala, December 26- Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav while presiding over the meeting of the sponsorship committee at the administrative complex today said that the Punjab government is committed to the welfare of needy children, under which benefits are being given to needy children through child welfare schemes.

She said that under this sponsorship scheme of the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, maximum needy children should be included so that no eligible and needy child is deprived of availing the facility. Dr. Preeti Yadav approved the sponsorship of 34 new children in the meeting. She said that under this scheme run by the Punjab government, poor children will get help and poor children will be able to continue their education.
She also said that children who fulfill the conditions of this sponsorship scheme should definitely contact the District Child Protection Office Patiala. She appealed to the people to take maximum benefit of this scheme. On this occasion, Child Protection Officer, Shaina Kapoor gave detailed information about the various schemes being run by the Punjab Government and said that sponsorship is given to children whose parents have died or whose parents are suffering from serious illness and the parents are financially and physically unable to take care of the children.
She said that earlier the sponsorship of 115 children was going on and today 34 new cases have been approved by the Deputy Commissioner Patiala. She further said that after the approval of this sponsorship, the children are given Rs. 4 thousand per month.

Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Jagdish Chandra and Social Worker Madam Urmil Puri were also present in the meeting.
