Patiala- Regarding the National Eye Donation and Eye Care Fortnight, Red Cross Volunteer and Eye Specialist Gurpreet Singh at PRPC Driver Conductor Training School informed that the eyes of the deceased remain alive for 5/6 hours after death. They take the cornea of ??the deceased in 10/15 minutes. By putting that cornea in the eyes of a blind person, the blind person can be given light. Gurpreet said that crores of people are dying in the country every year but only 40000/50000 eyes of the deceased are being donated.
Shri Kaka Ram Verma, Retired Training Supervisor, Red Cross gave information about the training of First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety. He said that under Operation Sandhur it is important that everyone should be careful for their safety and protection in the future. By filling the eye donation form, the family members should be informed because after death, efforts will be made to donate the eyes by them.
Inspector Jaspal Singh, Incharge Training School, while thanking, said that there are more than crores of blind people, children, youth in the country, who can earn a lot of merit by donating the eyes of their deceased relatives on the basis of compassion.
Whereas, people donate only the old clothes and beds of the deceased. While thanking Kaka Ram Verma, he said that Verma ji has been providing training to drivers and conductors for a long time.
