Giving information in this regard, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Alkjot Kaur said that wherever a case of dengue comes to light, the health teams go door-to-door in the vicinity of that place and conduct an investigation. Mosquito-killing medicine is also sprayed there.

 He said that the most effective way to avoid a life-threatening disease like dengue is not to allow water to collect anywhere and people are being continuously made aware of this for the past several months. Dr. Alkjot Kaur appealed to the people not to let water stand anywhere in their homes and surroundings and to wear clothes that cover the body completely. He said that there is no need to panic if dengue fever occurs due to any reason. The patient should be brought to a government health institution where the dengue test and treatment is absolutely free.
The patient should consume more fluids like water, juice, lemon water, coconut water etc. and rest. For information, you can contact the helpline number 104 of the health department. Common symptoms of dengue include severe headache and high fever, pain in muscles and joints, pain in the back of the eye, bleeding from the nose, mouth and gums when the condition worsens, nausea and vomiting. Dengue-carrying mosquitoes breed in standing clean water such as coolers, water tanks, flower pots, trays behind refrigerators, broken/discarded utensils and empty tires and water drums. Water should not be allowed to stand in them.
