Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 7, 2024: Paddy harvesting is about to be completed and sowing of wheat and potatoes has started. Phosphorus is required for wheat cultivation. In the past, the phosphorus elements required for crops have been supplied to farmers usually from DAP fertilizer. But phosphorus element can be supplied from other fertilizers available in the market.
Giving this information, Dr. Gurmel Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, said that Ramandeep Singh, a farmer of village Nabha Sahib of Derabassi block, who cultivates about 15 fields, said that in lieu of the shortage of DAP, many other fertilizers are also available in the market which are as effective as DAP fertilizer for Rabi crops. As an alternative to DAP fertilizer, other fertilizers like Triple Super Phosphate, Single Super Phosphate, Kisan Khad are available in the market, which can be used for wheat cultivation.
He said that as an alternative to DAP fertilizer, farmers can also use triple super phosphate fertilizer, single super phosphate and other phosphatic fertilizers. Apart from this, farmers can also use fertilizer 12:32:16 as an alternative to DAP. He said that apart from this, other phosphatic fertilizers available in the market can also be used. This fertilizer works better than DAP for crops.
He further said that today DAP fertilizer has arrived in district Mohali from the fertilizer rack of Hindalco and RCF companies. DAP has been supplied by Hindalco to the cooperative societies of Salempur, Ghadruan, Majat, Manauli Janta, Dau Mazra and Niholka and by RCF to the cooperative societies of Hulka, Devi Nagar, Bhago Mazra, Sialab, Jhingra, Singhpura, Garang, Roorkee Pukhta, Sotal, Londran.
This has compensated to a great extent the shortage of DAP being felt in Mohali district.
