
A block level awareness camp was held in Chalela for the management of crop residues
Patiala, November 5 - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala organized block level farmer awareness camp on proper management of paddy stubble and cultivation of rabi crops at Chalela (Bhadson) village of Block Nabha under stubble management project. In which more than 60 farmers participated. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Patiala motivated the farmers for effective use of natural resources and efficient management of crop residues.

In which more than 60 farmers participated. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Patiala motivated the farmers for effective use of natural resources and efficient management of crop residues.
He advised to adopt recommended technologies for paddy straw management. He discussed in detail about various machines like happy seeder, smart seeder, surface seeder, mulcher, baler, seed drill etc. for efficient management of paddy stubble and also shed light on the arrangements made by KVK for seeding of rabi crops. . Dr. Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) during the camp explained the importance of vegetables and fruits in relation to food security and motivated the farmers to plant home gardens of vegetables and fruits.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) informed the farmers about weed management and fertilizer management in wheat planted by different methods of stubble management in the field. They also informed the farmers about selecting nozzles for spraying herbicides and proper spraying method. He also informed the farmers about the cultivation of wheat as well as oilseed crops and pulses.
