This office will be opened in the government building located in front of Krishi Vigyan Kendra on Una-Santoshgarh Road. Its formal inauguration will be done soon, so that the commission can start its work with full functionality.

Commission Chairman Kuldeep Kumar gave this information while presiding over the first formal meeting of the newly formed State Scheduled Caste Commission held at Paridhi Grih Una on Thursday. Commission members Advocate Vijay Dogra and Advocate Digvijay Malhotra and Assistant Commissioner Varindra Sharma, who is handling the work of Member Secretary, were present in the meeting.

Mr. Kumar thanked Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Mukesh Agnihotri for this important step of the Himachal Pradesh government. He said that the decision to set up the office in Una will be of special benefit to the poor and backward classes. They will not have to go to Shimla for justice, but they will get the facility near their doorstep. He said that this office will not only increase the efficiency of the Commission, but will also ensure the availability of justice and services at the local level. This step of the Himachal Pradesh government will prove to be a milestone for the empowerment of the people of the Scheduled Caste category and protection of their rights.
He also said that the commission is committed to protecting the interests of the Scheduled Castes and safeguarding their rights. The primary objective of the commission is to provide justice and facilities to the Dalits and backward classes.
Preparations for setting up office in Rampur were reviewed
Commission Chairman Kuldeep Kumar said that he has visited Rampur along with the members of the Commission and inspected the preparations for setting up the office. He said that the office will be fully prepared soon. After this, the Commission will start working with full vigor to protect the interests of the Scheduled Castes and solve their problems.

It is noteworthy that recently the Himachal Pradesh government has constituted the State Scheduled Caste Commission. Senior Congress leader and former minister Kuldeep Kumar has been appointed the chairman of the commission. Mr. Kumar, who has been an MLA four times, has represented Gagret and Shri Chintpurni assembly constituencies. Apart from being the state president of Himachal Congress, he has also served as Industry Minister and Chairman of the State Finance Commission in the Shri Virbhadra Singh government.
Other members of the commission include advocate Vijay Dogra, who belongs to Sukadyal village of Gram Panchayat Bhyambi of Bangana in Una district and advocate Digvijay Malhotra of Jwali in Kangra district. Una Assistant Commissioner Varindra Sharma is handling the charge of Member Secretary.
