The highest polling took place in Ghanour block and the lowest in Sanour block

Patiala, Oct 17 - During the recently concluded Gram Panchayat elections, the overall polling rate in 10 blocks of Patiala district was 73.57 per cent, but Ghanaur block had the highest polling rate among all other blocks. 77.98 per cent voters exercised their franchise here. Rajpura block stood second with 77.66%.

Samana block stood third with 76.36 per cent voters casting their votes. This was followed by all the other seven blocks. Nabha recorded 74.82 per cent polling, Patara 73.40, Patiala 72.84, Shambhu Kalan 72.71, Bhunharheri 72.27, Patiala (rural) 68.39 and Sanaur block recorded the lowest polling at 66.88 per cent. Chichdawala village in Shutrana constituency, the home turf of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Bajigar, recorded only 24 per cent polling.
After the victory of the candidates, the leaders of various political parties are claiming that most of the winning candidates have won with the support of these parties.
