Derabassi (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), October 14, 2024:- Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain and SSP Deepak Parik visited villages of Derabassi area today and appealed to the farmers to handle the stubble without burning it.
The Deputy Commissioner while talking to farmer Parwinder Singh who makes bales of stubble with baler in village Chadyala, described him as an example for others. Parwinder Singh told that with the help of baler, he has been collecting about 600 acres of stubble every year for the last three-four years and saving it from rotting. He says that since various factories in Derabassi area have started using stubble as fossil fuel in boilers, the disposal of stubble has become easy.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to other farmers to take guidance from Parwinder and said that adequate machinery is available in the district for handling stubble, which farmers can take maximum advantage of to dispose of the stubble without burning it.
He further said that the country's highest court, Supreme Court, National Green Tribunal and Air Quality Management Commission (NCR and other surrounding areas) have taken strong cognizance of the incidents of stubble burning and have directed to strictly stop it. He said that to prevent stubble burning and to provide agricultural equipment for stubble management from nearby villages, a nodal officer has been deployed behind each village and a cluster officer behind 10 villages.
On this occasion, SSP Deepak Parik said that the smoke arising from burning stubble causes accidents, it also increases the problems of the sick and people suffering from respiratory diseases, so we have to take care of the health of both the environment and humans. He said that the district and police administration are committed to help the farmers in every way in the difficulty of stubble disposal, so we should dispose of the stubble only with machinery.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurmel Singh and Agriculture Officer Derabassi Dr. Danish were also present on this occasion.
