District Magistrate has declared Dry Day on the day of counting of votes on 08.10.2024 until the result is declared.

In relation to which, by letter dated 02.10.2024 by the office of Deputy Commissioner Ambala, orders have been issued to declare dry day and ban the sale of liquor in the area up to 08 km within the boundary of SAS Nagar district adjoining Ambala from 06.00 pm on 03.10.2024 to 06.00 pm on 05.10.2024 and till the declaration of results on the counting day 08.10.2024. District Magistrate Ms. Ashika Jain, IAS, exercising powers under Section 54 of Punjab Excise Act, 1914 and Section 135 C of Representation of People Act, 1951 has issued orders declaring dry day and prohibiting sale of liquor in an area of ??8 kms within the limits of SAS Nagar District adjoining District Panchkula and Ambala from 6.00 pm on 03.10.2024 to 6.00 pm on 05.10.2024 and till declaration of result of poll on counting day 08.10.2024, closing down liquor shops and completely prohibiting storage of liquor by individuals and completely prohibiting sale, use, serving, storage of liquor in any liquor premises (desi and English), hotels, shops, restaurants, clubs, beer bars, premises where sale and consumption of liquor is legally permitted or in any other public place etc. and use of other drugs is completely prohibited. He said that compliance of these orders would be strictly enforced by the Assistant Commissioner of Excise & Taxation, SAS Nagar.
