Nawanshahr- Computer teachers from across the state serving in government schools have been sitting on a hunger strike in front of Sangrur DC office for the last 126 days for their legitimate demands, but due to the government's negligence, now computer teacher leader Johnny Singla has started a hunger strike from December 22. The echo of which is now being heard all over Punjab. Under this series, a huge march and protest was organized today by the Computer Teacher Hunger Strike Committee District Shabasha Nagar,
in which a large number of computer teachers as well as leaders of other organizations also participated in large numbers and raised their voice in favor of computer teachers and strongly condemned the careless behavior of the government. On this occasion, a large number of teachers gathered with placards written Punjab Government Murdabad in their hands and burnt the bier and jhoodi di pand of the state government and raised slogans and staged a strong protest.
On this occasion, the district unit leaders of Computer Teacher Hunger Strike Committee Lakhvir Singh, Bhupinder Singh Bhatoa, Amarjit, Naresh Kumar, Varinder Kumar, Harpreet Singh said that in the year 2011, the then Punjab government had regularized the computer teachers, but with the passage of time, instead of restoring all their rights, the governments started abolishing their rights one by one and the present Aam Aadmi Party government is also working on the same conditions.
He said that while other regular employees have been given the benefit of the Sixth Pay Commission, the computer teachers across the state have been deprived of this benefit. Similarly, even after 13 years of regularization, no computer teacher has been given the necessary assistance like medical reimbursement, due to which many computer teachers have died due to serious diseases in the past, as they were unable to get expensive treatment due to financial constraints.
Not only this, at present many computer teachers themselves or any member of their family is suffering from various serious diseases, who are unable to get their treatment due to lack of necessary assistance like medical reimbursement, but the government is not paying any attention to this serious problem. He said that before the assembly elections, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains have been cursing the previous governments regarding the rights of computer teachers, but now when their own party is in power, they are not even ready to talk to the computer teachers.
He said that he has been continuously on hunger strike in Sangrur since September 1, but no government representative considered it appropriate to listen to him, due to which he has been forced to take the decision to sit on a hunger strike. And today his colleague Johnny Singla has been on a hunger strike for the last five days. Giving information about his demands, he said that he does not have any new demand. Their only demand is that all their benefits should be restored in regular order, they should be merged in the education department giving them the benefit of the sixth pay commission and the family members of those computer teachers who have died due to any reason in the past should be given government jobs along with due financial assistance.
The computer teachers warned the government that if their demands are not met in time, they will launch a big mass movement against the government, for which the state government will be responsible. The leaders of various teachers and other organizations present on this occasion also condemned the government in strong words and demanded that the rights of the computer teachers should be restored as soon as possible otherwise the state government should be ready to face the consequences. On this occasion, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Mr. Sukhdev Dancewal, Mr. Gurdayal Singh Maan, Mr. Narinjan Jot Singh, Mr. Jagdish Rai were present from DTF.
