In the world of algorithms and code, initially the Zonal Computing Olympiad was held, in which Samik Goyal, a class 11 non-medical student at DAV Public School, Patiala, qualified for the national level and won a silver medal. Out of 30 students selected at the national level, 4 students were selected to represent India for the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics to be held in Egypt in September, 2024. In this digital field he brought glory to the country and proved himself a true champion by winning a silver medal and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Congratulating Samik and his parents and teachers, Principal Mr. Vivek Tiwari said, “His win is a testament to his dedication, skill, excellence, hard work, passion and innovation for informatics.
It is a matter of pride for us and our country.” Notably, Samik's visit to Egypt was sponsored by the Government of India.
