
72 roads closed, the Meteorological Department has predicted torrential rain till September 2
Shimla- A total of 72 roads have been closed due to rain in Himachal Pradesh. Officials informed on Saturday that the local weather office had warned of torrential rain at different places on September 2. According to the State Emergency Operation Center, out of 72 roads, 35 in Shimla, 15 in Mandi, 10 in Kangra, 9 in Kullu and one each in Una, Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts are closed.

It has been said that 10 electricity and 32 water supply schemes in the state were also stopped due to rain. According to the Centre, since the onset of monsoon on June 27 till Friday, 150 people have died in rain-related incidents and the state has suffered a loss of Rs 1,265 crore.
It has been raining intermittently in some parts of the state since Friday evening. 44.8 mm of rain has been recorded in Sundernagar of Himachal Pradesh. After which Shilaru (43.1 mm), Jubarhatti (20.4 mm), Manali (17 mm), Shimla (15.1 mm), Slapper (11.3 mm) and Dalhousie (11 mm) have recorded rainfall.
The local meteorological department has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain, storm and lightning in different places of the state on September 2. In Himachal Pradesh, from June 1 to August 31, in the last three months, the lack of rain has been 23 percent. 471.1 mm of rain has fallen in the state against the average of 613.8 mm.
