
More and more people should be encouraged to donate eyes: Jitendra Kansal

In the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jatinder Kansal said that under the National Netra Jyoti Abhiyan being run to make district Patiala cataract free, cataract screening of all persons above 50 years of age is being done. And cataract camps are being organized and free operations are being done. He said that PHC Bhadson and Dudhan Sadha have been made cataract free. At the same time, efforts are being made to free the remaining health blocks of the district from cataract backlog soon. Dr. Jatinder Kansal appealed to the ophthalmology officers to motivate more and more people to donate eyes in the National Eye Donation Fortnight which is being celebrated from 25 August to 8 September.
Dr. SJ Singh said that a record of the operations done in private hospitals should also be kept. He directed all the eye disease officers to check the eyes of the children of all the schools and ensure distribution of glasses to all the children with low vision. On this occasion, District Mass Media Officer Kulveer Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Jasjit Kaur, Shakti Khanna Eye Officer and other staff members were present.
