Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology Hosts Forum on Transgender Issues

Chandigarh, August 20, 2024 – The Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Degree Wing, Sector-26, Chandigarh, organized a significant event today focusing on critical transgender issues. The event, attended by faculty members, staff, and students, aimed to foster awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the transgender community.

The event, attended by faculty members, staff, and students, aimed to foster awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the transgender community. The event featured a series of discussions and panel sessions that delved into the impact of recent bills on transgender rights, with a particular focus on healthcare access and anti-discrimination measures.The forum also addressed the importance of creating an inclusive environment and the evolving societal attitudes towards all genders. Their insights provided a comprehensive overview of the legislative changes, healthcare access, and social acceptance impacting the transgender community. The event concluded with a call to action, urging participants to engage in advocacy, support local initiatives, and promote understanding within their communities. Mr. Amit emphasized the significance of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act and stressed the need for continued efforts to eliminate discrimination and provide an inclusive environment for all. The forum was addressed by Mr. Amit, a Counsellor from the Transgender Protection Cell, Department of Social Welfare, UT, Chandigarh, and Dr. Anil Kumar Vaghmare, Assistant Professor and Nodal Officer of CCET Degree Wing.
