Chandigarh August 1, 2024:- Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (Dr. SSB UICET), Panjab University, commenced its orientation program for the academic year 2024-25 today at the Bhatnagar Auditorium. The event welcomed new students of B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, and Chemical Engineering with MBA and was graced by esteemed guests, distinguished faculty members, alumni, and the incoming batch of students.
The program began with a welcoming speech by Professor Anupama Sharma, Chairperson of Dr. SSB UICET, followed by an inspiring address from the Chief Guest, Prof. V.K. Rattan, former Vice-Chancellor of GNA University, Phagwara. Prof. Rattan shared his experiences and offered valuable advice to the new students. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Heena Singh, an alumna from the batch of 2010 B.E. Food Technology, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of balancing academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities.
Prof. Sharma highlighted the department's illustrious history, ongoing international collaborations such as with Yokohama National University, Japan, and its impressive placement record. Following her address, Professor Surinder Singh Bhinder, Training & Placement Officer, spoke about the training and placement opportunities at Dr. SSB UICET, highlighting the institute's robust placement record and international placement opportunities. Professor Amit Sobti, the Controller of Examinations, explained the examination structure and grading system being followed at the institute.
The event also featured insights into training and placement opportunities, faculty interactions, and student activities, concluding with a query session addressing the students' and parents' doubts, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities available at Dr. SSB UICET. The orientation program set a positive tone for the new academic journey of the students, leaving them inspired and motivated.
