Nawanshahr - The meeting of Punjab Sahitya Sabha Regd. Nawanshahr was held at the residence of the Sabha's patron Gurcharan Badhan under his chairmanship, in which the Sahitya Sabha was elected unanimously. During this, Darshan Dardi was appointed as the President, Tarsem Saki as the General Secretary, Des Raj Bali as the Secretary, Harbalas Badhan Barisian as the Vice President, Omkar Mehendipuri as the Treasurer, Vasdev Pardesi as the Press Secretary, Sunita Badhan and Balwinder Kaur Bali as the members.
After the election of the Sabha, a Kavi Darbar was organized, in which the Sabha's patron Gurcharan Badhan started the Kavi Darbar with the song 'Sadhe Panj Ab Suk Gaye, Sada Fikkraan Cha Pai Gaya Punjab'. Omkar Mehendipuri presented the song 'Dharti Nu Dhaah Lag Jaugi', 'Dhiyan Maar Mukauge'. Tarsem Saki made the party romantic by saying, "Jab jaane wala jaan jaan kehanda hai, jaan jaan kahke meri jaan kad lenda hai" Des Raj Bali sang the Baul song Hoi dedh mahkoti ki chutti, chale nankay ghar. Dardi created a buzz with his ghazal lines, "I love the thorns as well as the flowers, I express happiness even in sorrow". Thus, this gathering took the shape of a kavi darbar. Gurcharan Badhan thanked everyone.
