
47 victims identified after DNA testing, 24 bodies handed over to families.
Ahmedabad, June 15 - Authorities have identified 47 victims out of the 241 passengers killed in the Ahmedabad plane crash through DNA testing and have handed over 24 bodies to their respective families so far. These people belonged to different parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Dr. Rajnish Patel, professor of surgery at Government BJ Medical College, said that the process of DNA matching of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is also underway.
Officials had earlier said that 230 teams had been formed to coordinate with the families of the victims. There were 242 passengers on board the Ahmedabad-London flight, including 12 crew members. Former Chief Minister Rupani was also among the deceased. A British citizen of Indian origin had a miraculous escape in the horrific accident.
The Air India plane crash killed 29 people, including five MBBS students, on the ground. The plane crashed minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The plane crashed near the campus of a medical college in the Meghaninagar area.
