Instructions of Chief Minister-Deputy Chief Minister...Zero tolerance on chitta, take strictest steps-
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has clearly said that no leniency will be shown in this war against drugs. He has given complete freedom to the administration to take the strictest steps to eradicate this problem from its roots. At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has also clarified that zero tolerance policy should be adopted against chitta and any influential person, having political connections or having relations with anyone, should not be spared under any circumstances.

Panchayat representatives will also be included in the campaign to eradicate the drug network at the village and panchayat level.

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh said that surveillance has been increased in the district to break the network of chitta and raids are being conducted continuously. Being a border district, a special police team has been formed to stop drug smuggling from outside states, which is ensuring prompt and effective action under the Narcotics Act.
21 cases of chitta caught in 3 months, 224 grams recovered-
97 charges in 15 months, 874 grams of chitta recovered-
The Superintendent of Police said that in the year 2024, 168 people were arrested by registering 105 cases related to various drug cases in the district. Of these, 76 cases were of chitta, in which 650 grams of chitta was seized. This year 36 arrests have been made in 27 new cases of drugs. In these, 224 grams of chitta was seized in 21 cases of chitta.
Mr. Singh said that the police has taken many important actions against the drug mafia in the past. In the month of February, during a raid in the Mehtpur police station area, 19.14 grams of chitta and Rs 10,700 drug money were seized. On Monday, during a raid in Haroli and Tahliwal police station area, poppy husk, illegal country-made pistol, fake number plate and a motorcycle were recovered.
Strict monitoring of de-addiction centres-
28 de-addiction centres are being run by various organisations in Una district. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that surprise checks are being conducted at these centres from time to time to ensure that drug business does not flourish under their cover.
The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police have clearly stated that this fight against drug abuse in the district will continue with full force. This campaign will be taken forward with even more strictness.
