Mohali Press Club a democratically functioning institution: Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema

Congratulating the newly elected governing body team at the ‘Corona Ceremony’ organized by Mohali Press Club at Hotel Zodiac located in Phase-5 here today, the Chief Guest, Punjab Finance Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema said that I am very happy that the Mohali Press Club conducts its team election every year in a democratic and fair manner under the supervision of the Election Commissioner, for which I congratulate the President Sukhdev Singh Patwari and the entire team. He said that the media is an important part of the society. Whatever happens in the society, the media brings it to the people, so the responsibility of the media is very big.
Along with this, speaking on the demand to give a permanent place to the club, he said that this step taken by your team is very commendable and encouraging and now I am always with you for this important work. If there is any obstacle in meeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann or any other problem, we will definitely complete the work of building a press club in Mohali within a year by resolving it. During this, the Finance Minister also assured of providing financial assistance for building the club. During this, he announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Mohali Press Club from his discretionary quota. During this, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also released the club's souvenir.
On this occasion, Water Supply and Sanitation Punjab Chairman Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia also attended the coronation ceremony as a special guest. He said that the contribution of the media in our society cannot be forgotten, because every news of the city and the world is known only through the media. During this, he congratulated the entire team on the coronation ceremony and also spoke about providing all possible help to the club.
During this, President Sukhdev Singh Patwari welcomed Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Water Supply and Sanitation Punjab Chairman Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia on their arrival at the coronation ceremony and said that it is a matter of great pride for us that you have attended this ceremony of ours. He said that Mohali city has come on the world map but it is a matter of great regret that there is no building for the Press Club here. He said that the club has been running in a rented house for the last 26 years with its limited resources without any government assistance. The Chief Patwari appealed to the Finance Minister to contribute his due share in resolving this long pending issue of providing a suitable place for the Mohali Press Club.
Earlier, on his arrival at the function, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was welcomed by the members of the Welcome Committee Madam Neha Verma, Kulwant Gill, Mangat Saidpur and Nahar Singh Dhaliwal with a bouquet of flowers. During this, the entire governing body honored Finance Minister Cheema by presenting a badge of honor and a doshala.
