The Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of this initiative is to provide clean and economical energy to every household. He said that the district administration will provide all possible assistance to the citizens to install solar panels on their roofs.
He further said that solar panels will not only reduce electricity bills to zero or to a significant extent, but will also make a significant contribution in environmental protection and mitigating climate change.
The Deputy Commissioner told reporters that most of the families in the district consume more than 300 units of electricity annually, due to which the electricity bills are high. Installing solar panels will reduce this burden and provide economic benefits to the families.
He said that this scheme provides several benefits to the citizens, which include significant savings on electricity bills, government subsidy of up to Rs 78,000, 24-hour availability of electricity and balanced household expenses.
Apart from this, the use of solar energy will also help in reducing global warming. He further said that the National Power Training Institute recently successfully organized a two-day training program on grid-connected solar rooftop systems in Hoshiarpur. More than 80 employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited participated in this program.
Regarding the process of this scheme, the Deputy Commissioner said that the meter readers will go door to door and inform the people about the scheme by giving a letter issued by the Deputy Commissioner and will enter the required data online.
After this, the vendor approved by the district administration will contact the citizens and complete the process of installing the panels. Then the panel will contact the residents to complete the installation process. All the paperwork and all the paperwork related to the electricity department will also be completed by these vendors.
He said that all the councilors and sarpanches of the district will also be appealed to make the people aware of the letter issued by them. He said that the subsidy amount will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries within 15 to 30 days, and bank loans will also be available at low interest rates. The entire process will be completed within 45 to 60 days.
