Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, August 16: With the aim of promoting the sweet Punjabi mother tongue and instilling interest in the language among students, the Punjab School Education Board is organizing “International Punjabi Olympiad 2025” this year under the leadership of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Amarpal Singh, informed that the registration process for students will be done through online mode from August 18 to October 31, 2025. For this, the special web link https://olympiad.pseb.ac.in/ will be made live on August 18.
Giving details of the category-wise fee for students, he said that the registration fee for the primary category (8–12 years) will be Rs. 50 (earlier it was Rs. 100). The registration fee for middle category (12–14 years) and secondary category (14–17 years) has been kept at Rs. 100. The registration fee for NRI students will be Rs. 800.
Dr. Amarpal Singh said that in previous years, the basis of questions was limited to the prepared content only, but this time, along with the content, questions from the syllabus according to age have also been included, so that the Olympiad remains linked to the curriculum. Apart from this, in previous years, only online examination was conducted, whereas this time this examination will be conducted in both online and offline modes.
He said that to increase the enthusiasm among the students, the winners will be honored with cash prizes. The schools and teachers who register the most and secure the most places district-wise will get special honors.
It is worth mentioning that more than 35,000 students participated in the Olympiads conducted in 2023 and 2024. The board expects the registration figure to increase further this time.
Earlier, the Board had organized a conference on the topic “How to make the sweet Punjabi mother tongue the beating heart of the youth” to promote Punjabi mother tongue, which received wide appreciation. “International Punjabi Olympiad 2025” will also prove to be an important step towards instilling interest in the mother tongue among the students, strengthening their linguistic understanding and further strengthening the identity of Punjabi at the global level.
