he appealed to the Panchayats of Punjab to participate in the ‘Green Punjab’ campaign and work seriously towards environmental protection. Uma Shankar said, “Panchayats are the essence of rural governance. If they pay attention to protecting the environment, then our Punjab can truly become green and tidy.”
he advised the Panchayats to plant more trees in their areas, spread awareness about waste management, conserve water resources and take steps towards green development.
In this conversation, Uma Shankar also said that the department is working on making rural schemes more effective through transparency, public participation and use of technology. he said that the Punjab government is taking strong steps to increase the capacity of Panchayats through training, innovative policies and resources.
This interview confirms that the Rural Development Department is moving towards making Punjab a clean, green and prosperous state by connecting environmental interests with its core values.
