Garhshankar- The Ex-Servicemen Welfare Trust Garhshankar celebrated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas at the local Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College. On this occasion, apart from the members of the Trust, the NCC Cadets, staff and students of the college attended the function.
On this occasion, the President of the Trust Amarjit Singh Gulpur, General Secretary Subedar Kewal Singh Bhajjal, Principal of the college Dr. Amandeep Hira, Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Dr. Sangha Gurbaksh Kaur paid tribute to the martyrs by offering floral wreaths in respect of the martyrs. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira and Subedar Kewal Singh Bhajjal while addressing said that the Kargil War is a chapter in the history of the Indian Army which is not only a story of victory but also includes the confluence of courage, strategic foresight and untold stories of the soldiers.
He said that on 26 July 1999, the soldiers of our country had hoisted the tricolor on the inaccessible peaks of Kargil by defeating the enemies with unparalleled courage, unwavering patriotism and bravery. He said that this day reminds us of the sacrifices of our brave soldiers who had given their lives for the glory and identity of the country.
The speakers said that the Kargil War is a glorious story of unparalleled sacrifices from which our young generation needs to take guidance.
