Amritsar, September 13:- Taking notice of the false statements being made by some members on the relief work being done by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee after the floods in Punjab, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami appealed that this is the time to share the pain of the victims, not to do politics.
Talking to the media at the Shiromani Committee office, Advocate Dhami said that Interim Committee member Sardar Jaswant Singh Pudain and some other members are misleading the people by making false statements. He said that the Shiromani Committee has been providing relief services to the people without any discrimination from the first day itself, which was the duty of the organization.
Advocate Dhami said that the resolution that Sardar Jaswant Singh Pudain had mentioned in the Interim Committee was to confirm the expenses of the relief services sent immediately. He also clarified that after the meeting of the Interim Committee, he has also shared with the media the details of the relief work done by various Gurdwaras and the expenses incurred so far.
Advocate Dhami said that some members of the Shiromani Committee are trying to create confusion about the relief services from Gurdwara Nankiana Sahib Sangrur, whereas no work has been done by the Shiromani Committee outside the rules.
He said that on the demand made by the people to strengthen the embankments of the Ghaggar River, the Shiromani Committee had approved the provision of 3 thousand liters of diesel, out of which 2 thousand liters of oil has been given to the Sangat. The entire record, including the demand made by the people and the details of the people to whom the oil reached, is available at the Gurdwara Sahib.
He said that raising questions about the work of the organization just for the sake of protest does not give credit to these members. This is also a part of the organization's arrangements and they are fully aware of the work done and the rules. He said that it is a matter of sorrow that instead of sharing the suffering of the victims, these people are blaming those who are supporting them.
The Shiromani Committee President said that the Shiromani Akali Dal is doing relief work on its own and many other organizations are engaged in these works for the people in this difficult time. But propaganda to show the representative political organization of the Sikhs in comparison to anyone is not right. Advocate Dhami appealed that in this time of trouble that has befallen Punjab, let us try to apply ointment to the wounds of the victims, and not become a hindrance in the ongoing relief work by slandering each other.
On this occasion, Shiromani Committee member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Jathedar Bawa Singh Gumanpura, Sardar Surjit Singh Bhittewad, Baba Buta Singh, Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhishek, Sardar Gurmeet Singh Booh, Sardar Amarjit Singh Bhalaipur, Bibi Gurinder Kaur, OSD Sardar Satbir Singh, Secretary Sardar Partap Singh, Sardar Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Personal Secretary Sardar Shahbaz Singh, Deputy Secretary Sardar Harbhajan Singh Wakta, Superintendent Sardar Nishan Singh and others were present.
