Prime Minister Modi announces financial assistance of Rs 1600 crore for Punjab.

Chandigarh/Gurdaspur- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance of Rs 1600 crore for the flood-affected areas of Punjab. He said that the next of kin of the deceased will be given Rs 2 lakh each and the injured Rs 50,000 each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Punjab. After this, he reached Gurdaspur where he met the flood victims. Mr. Modi also met the NDRF team here. After this, Mr. Modi also met the farmers. The farmers told Mr. Modi that they have not received compensation even for the year 2023. Union Ministers Ravneet Bittu and Sunil Jakhar were also present on this occasion.
Punjab has been devastated by floods on a large scale since 1988. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day-long visit to Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to take stock of the flood situation. Modi held a meeting with senior officials of Punjab and took stock of the situation on the ground. Modi had come to Punjab after his visit to Himachal Pradesh.
While leaving for Himachal Pradesh and Punjab from Delhi, Prime Minister Modi wrote on his X, ‘The Government of India stands firmly with the victims in this hour of grief.’ It is noteworthy that Punjab is currently facing the worst floods. These floods have come due to the rising water levels in the Sutlej, Beas and Ravi and heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
