Rahon/Nawanshahr- National Labor Organization (NLO) convener Baldev Bharti said that the lack of willpower of the state and central governments in implementing MGNREGA exactly has put MGNREGA on a ventilator. Due to which the future of MGNREGA workers and employees is at stake.
He said that MGNREGA is a law whose full name is 'Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act-2005'. Therefore, governments cannot directly close MGNREGA at their own will.
If governments are not sincere in implementing MGNREGA law, then the workers have the right to go against this provision in the honorable court. But for this, the workers will have to fulfill the instructions of the conditions/rules of MGNREGA law. Baldev Bharti further said that the workers should make a written demand for at least 14 days of employment under Section 3 (1), Para 9 Schedule-.. of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act-2005.
Because according to the MNREGA Act, the workers have been guaranteed 100 days of employment during a financial year. The workers will have to get a receipt of the written demand for employment. If employment is not available within 15 days from the date of receipt of this receipt, then the application for unemployment allowance by the workers should be given to the Program Officer MNREGA-cum-Block Development and Panchayat Officer and a receipt of this application should also be obtained.
Unless the workers organize and reach here, their words will not reach the governments in a technically correct sense. Therefore, the workers should apply for employment demand applications as per the rules as a preliminary struggle to restore MNREGA.
