
Anti-rabies vaccine available in Aam Aadmi clinics of the district: Civil Surgeon
SAS Nagar, July 27, 2025: On the instructions of the Punjab Government, anti-rabies vaccine has now been made available in all 40 Aam Aadmi clinics of the district. Giving information in this regard, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that taking a step towards providing better health facilities to the people, many new facilities have been started in Aam Aadmi clinics.
SAS Nagar, July 27, 2025: On the instructions of the Punjab Government, anti-rabies vaccine has now been made available in all 40 Aam Aadmi clinics of the district. Giving information in this regard, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that taking a step towards providing better health facilities to the people, many new facilities have been started in Aam Aadmi clinics.
While this vaccine is already available in other government health institutions. He said that vaccination is very important on the first, third, seventh and 28th day of slaughter of animals. Rabies treatment is absolutely free at all Aam Aadmi clinics of the district.
Anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) prevents rabies. He said that this disease of rabies or rabies is 100 percent fatal but 100 percent preventable if treated early. The clinics are fully stocked with the required vaccine and trained medical staff to ensure smooth, fast and effective treatment.
Dr. Jain said that it is generally believed that rabies can be spread only through dog bites. However, contrary to this, this disease is not limited to dogs, but can be caused by bites of various animals including cats, monkeys, goats, bats. The virus lives in the saliva of infected animals and enters humans through animal bites or wounds.
He said that if you have been bitten by an animal or you suspect rabies infection, then seek immediate medical attention and get rabies vaccination. Advising the common people to get proper treatment instead of home remedies, he said that chillies etc. should not be applied to the wound after being bitten by a dog or any other animal. Doing so can lead to fatal disease.
He appealed to the district residents that people who have pet dogs in their homes should get them vaccinated so that people can be protected from rabies if they are bitten by a dog. He said that the only way to avoid rabies is to prevent it.
- Signs and symptoms of rabies:
The initial symptoms of rabies can be fever, headache, nervousness, vomiting and general weakness. As the virus spreads, other symptoms start appearing like confusion, restlessness, fear of sound and water, teething, hallucinations, difficulty in swallowing, excessive salivation, paralysis and finally death.
- Rabies prevention steps:
Avoid contact with any animal that appears sick or injured.
- Get your pets vaccinated against rabies regularly.
- Do not touch stray animals.
Immediately wash the animal bite site with soap and water for at least 15 minutes.
