
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji stands firmly with the flood-affected Punjabis in difficult times: Tarun Chugh
Gurdaspur/Chandigarh: 09 September 2025- Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today welcomed the announcement of financial assistance announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the affected people of these states in view of the devastation caused by the terrible floods in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Chugh said that the Prime Minister has personally listened to the problems of the people of Punjab during his visit to Gurdaspur today and has sensitively felt their pain.
Gurdaspur/Chandigarh: 09 September 2025- Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today welcomed the announcement of financial assistance announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the affected people of these states in view of the devastation caused by the terrible floods in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Chugh said that the Prime Minister has personally listened to the problems of the people of Punjab during his visit to Gurdaspur today and has sensitively felt their pain.
Chugh said that the Prime Minister not only inspected the affected areas by conducting an aerial survey but also held a detailed meeting with leaders and officials in Gurdaspur to assess the damage and the immediate needs of the people. Shri Tarun Chugh said that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi listened patiently to the farmers, labourers and other affected families. He understood their pain with full sympathy and took major decisions for relief which will prove helpful in reducing the suffering of the victims.”
He informed that the Prime Minister has announced a financial assistance of Rs. 1600 crore for Punjab which is in addition to the Rs. 12,000 crore already available in the state treasury. The Central Government has also decided to release the second installment of SDRF and advance amount of Kisan Samman Nidhi. The families of those killed due to floods will be given Rs. 2 lakh and those injured will be given Rs. 50 thousand. The children who have lost their parents will be taken care of under the central scheme “Pradhan Mantri Bachche Achaap” (PM CARES for Children).
Tarun Chugh said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has assured assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for reconstruction of houses, repair of damaged school buildings, reconstruction of dilapidated roads, irrigation and water conservation infrastructure on a large scale. The Prime Minister especially talked about repairing soil-filled irrigation boreholes for farmers, assistance for solar panels and support for various projects under the Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Yojana.
Chugh said, “Prime Minister Modi has given confidence to every Punjabi that the Central Government is standing with them in this difficult time. As a Punjabi, I thank Prime Minister Modi who has strengthened the hearts of every flood-affected family. His concern and determination have instilled hope in lakhs of farmers, labourers and the common people.”
He said that the Prime Minister's meeting with the affected families and encouraging the NDRF, SDRF and Aapda Mitra volunteers shows his solidarity with the people and appreciation for their service at the risk of their lives. Chugh reiterated that the Central Government will continue to provide all possible help till Punjab is brought back to normalcy.
