District Red Cross Society organized a training workshop on the occasion of World First Aid Day.

Hoshiarpur:- On the occasion of World First Aid Day, 2025, the District Red Cross Society organized a one-day First Aid Training Workshop for the students of James Cambridge International School Hoshiarpur and the Vocational Training Center of District Red Cross. About 650 students participated in this workshop. The training was led by an experienced First Aid Training Supervisor of the Red Cross.

About 650 students participated in this workshop. The training was led by an experienced First Aid Training Supervisor of the Red Cross.
The objective of the training program was to equip them with essential First Aid knowledge and practical skills. The participants were fully trained in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Poisoning, Epistaxis, Burns, Fracture Treatment, Choking Management, Bandaging, Sprains/Stretches, Rib Fractures and other emergency response techniques like Snake/Scorpion/Dog/Honey Bee Bites, Epileptic Seizures, Drowning, Asphyxiation, Head Injury, Heat Stroke and Dehydration, Fever etc. which can save the life of the patient before seeking medical attention in the hospital.
Giving information about the programme, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that such training sessions are mandatory under the Factories Act, 1948, especially for industries employing more than 150 workers. She stressed on the importance of workplace safety and preparedness to reduce the impact of accidents and emergencies.
District Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood emphasized that compliance with first aid under the Factories Act is not just a legal obligation but an important aspect of ensuring the safety of workers. By providing adequate first aid resources and training, employers can significantly reduce the risks associated with workplace injuries.
This not only ensures legal compliance but also promotes a culture of care, responsibility and prompt response in emergencies. He said that the District Red Cross Society encourages other industries to voluntarily organize such a program in their factories.
