Photography, reels and videography banned in Supreme Court; strict action to be taken against violators.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has banned photography, reels and videography in the high security zone of its main premises. In a circular issued on September 10, the apex court has asked media personnel to conduct interviews and broadcast news live in the designated lawn area.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has banned photography, reels and videography in the high security zone of its main premises. In a circular issued on September 10, the apex court has asked media personnel to conduct interviews and broadcast news live in the designated lawn area.
The circular said, “The use of mobile phones for photography and videography is prohibited in the lawn of the high security zone. Except for official use, equipment like cameras, tripods, selfie-sticks etc. used for videography, reels and photographs in the high security zone will be banned.”
The circular further stated that if any of the above guidelines are violated by any advocate, litigant, intern or law clerk, the concerned Bar Association or the concerned State Bar Council shall take appropriate action against the violator as per its rules.
In case of violation of the directions by the media personnel, their access to the High Security Zone of the Supreme Court may be restricted for a period of one month.
It further stated, “The circular also stated that the security personnel shall have the right to prevent any person, staff member, advocate or others from taking photographs or making videos within the High Security Zone.”
