Patiala:- Being trained as a helping angel to save precious lives is a service to humanity. During sudden incidents, injured persons can be saved from death through proper first aid, CPR, recovery or ventilator position, along with confidence and courage at the spot. Therefore, every student, teacher, citizen, employee and homemaker should undergo training in first aid, CPR, fire safety, and ways to protect themselves and rescue victims during fire, gas, electricity and petroleum-related accidents. These views were expressed by retired Red Cross Training Supervisor Shri Kaka Ram Verma while imparting training at Dayanand Public Senior Secondary School on the occasion of International Disaster Management and Civil Defence Day.

Thanking Principal Shri Bhardwaj, he said that such training sessions are being organised continuously once or twice a year under his guidance. Heads of several educational institutions also arrange training and practical exercises for their students and teachers and, through them, their parents, to save precious lives and property during emergencies. Kaka Ram Verma said that students, teachers and parents who have undergone practical training in these areas can help prevent 80% of accidents and protect precious lives and property from destruction.

Inspector Sarabjit Kaur and ASI Ram Saran of the Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell informed the students about drugs, crime, accidents, cyber security and helpline numbers. Principal Shri Subhash Bhardwaj said that Indian pilot Captain Smit Machhar, by applying his training and practice, saved the lives of more than 200 passengers even while they were injured in an aircraft.

By providing students with information about health, safety, assistance, tolerance, humility, patience, peace, values, discipline and duties, children, society and humanity can be made safer, healthier and more prosperous.
