Chandigarh, 7 October:- Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Shruti Chaudhary directed officials to ensure that farmers coming to mandis to sell their crops face no difficulty at any stage, from obtaining a gate pass to crop procurement, weighing, lifting and payment for their produce.
Smt. Shruti Chaudhary today visited the Bhiwani grain market and reviewed crop procurement and arrangements made for farmers. During the visit, she personally underwent the biometric process for a farmer’s gate pass at the mandi to check the entire system.
She also inspected moisture testing of crops, the procurement process and other arrangements at the mandi. She directed Market Committee officials to ensure that the entire crop procurement process is completed in a time-bound and transparent manner and that farmers do not face any unnecessary inconvenience.
The Irrigation and Water Resources Minister directed officials to maintain adequate arrangements for electricity and drinking water at the mandi and to pay special attention to the cleanliness of toilets. She also directed that the canteen be operated regularly during the procurement season and that farmers be provided clean, nutritious and quality food.
Directing officials to ensure regular monitoring of arrangements at the mandi, she said farmers should be treated respectfully during the procurement season and their problems should be resolved on priority. She made it clear that farmers’ convenience and smooth crop procurement are government priorities, and necessary arrangements must be ensured at every level connected with the procurement process in the mandis.
