Santokhgarh/Una, 1 October (Rajveer Chopra):- On the occasion of International Day of Senior Citizens, a special function was organised by the Welfare Department, Una, Himachal Pradesh, to honour the Senior Citizens above the age of 80 years in Una district. Senior members of the Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, were also specially honoured at the function.
Under the leadership of Jagmohan Singh Walia, President, Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, and Ashok Kumar Tejpal, Treasurer, the institution’s senior-most members Shri Vikramjit Chhabba, Shri Charan Das Mahajan and Shri Pratap Singh Negi were honoured on completing 80 years of age. District Welfare Officer Shri Awas Pandit and Tehsil Welfare Officer Shri Jitendra Kumar honoured them by presenting Himachali traditional caps and shawls.
On the occasion, Shri Vikramjit Chhabba, after receiving the honour from District Welfare Officer Shri Awas Pandit, addressed the senior citizens of Una district present at the function. Highlighting the rights of senior citizens and their role in society, he said that children should be given such education and values that they stay away from evils like drug abuse and the young generation of the country can be kept safe.
Jagmohan Singh Walia, President, Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, expressed gratitude to District Welfare Officer Shri Awas Pandit and Tehsil Welfare Officer Shri Jitendra Kumar for organising the felicitation ceremony and honouring senior citizens. He said that the council would continue to work for the service and welfare of senior citizens of Santokhgarh. The entire executive committee of the organisation is always ready to assist and serve senior citizens.

Verma, President, District Una Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Jagmohan Singh Walia, President, Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, Treasurer Ashok Kumar Tejpal, former President Dr. Ram Narayan Prabhakar, Vikramjit Chhabba, Pratap Singh Negi, Charan Das Mahajan, Ashok Kumar, along with other senior citizens and prominent persons, were present at the function.
